Switch uptime reporting/trending

Hi,

I am looking for a way to run a report on the uptime/availability of our switches on a long term basis. My manager is looking for something that can show for example, "This past year, the uptime on switch X was XX.XX %." We have both CiscoWorks 2000 and NetScout Performance Manager 2.0 management software. Is it possible to do this on a long term basis for either or both?

In CiscoWorks, I was looking at Resource Manager Essentials - Availability - Availability Monitor - Reachability Trend. This sort of gives me what I am looking for, but it only shows data from the past few days. Can that time be adjusted to go back further?

Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

You can directly poll the SNMP object sysUpTime, but note that IOS based devices rely on RFC1213's sysUpTime which is a 32 bit counter in 1/100 second and wraps around every 496 days.

PRTG from http://www.paessler.com, Graphing tool that gives tremendous info and uptime up to a year. It is a windows version of MRTG http://www.mrtg.com, a free unix tool. Check them out.

Hi,

I was recently looking for exactly the same thing and found that Big Brother is excellent for this kind of reporting.
