Symbol error frames

When you issue the show controllers ethernet g0/1 for instance there is a field showing symbol error frames.

Anyone know what this means and what may cause the count to increment.

Re: Symbol error frames

In my experience with it symbol error frames are usually caused by some layer 1 fault or impairment. I suggest that you look for some physical layer issue.

Mick

The last time I had experience with symbol error frames it turns out that there was damaged fiber - apparently letting some signal through but impairing some.
