SYS-3-P3_ERROR: 1/SFP/GBICs on ports 9/8 and 9/6 have duplicate serial numb

Does anyone know about this error? I got this error from Cat 6509.

Hi Sam-Lee

It indicates that the GBIC might be faulty or a non-Cisco GBIC is being used.

You can try new GBICs to connect to ports 9/8 and 9/6 to see if they work.

Also you can test the failing GBICs using spare gig modules or spare switches.
