Is it possible to configure a Catalyst
(5xxx or 29xx) for sending syslog
messages if a specific ethernet port
goes down. Currently i receive a message
for every port which changes the status.
This is not interesting if a
workstation is connected to this port, but will be interesting if a server is
connected.

On a CatOS based switch, you can use 'set port trap X/Y disable' to knock out traps for ports you consider uninteresting. For IOS-based switches, the equivalent is "no snmp trap link-status".

Can you specifiy types of errors to block. For example, I would like all error messages to make it through, but updown links I would not.
