T1 upgrade

We are using a frame relay network configutation to several locations from our main 3600 series router at the main office. We just upgraded our existing T1 from 128k to full T1 (1.536) to one of our locations. We opened the 24 channels required by our CSU/DSU modem to support the bandwidth.

After this upgrade we did not see any speed performance when we transer, save, or retrieve files from a Novell 5.0 server. We also called T1 line service provider to double check our configuration and the even found out that we are running up to 1.7, but still our network is very slow.

Do we need to change any configuration in both routers the 2600 or 3600 series routers, if they were configured to 128k in both ends or does any body have an idea what we should do?

Thank you

Re: T1 upgrade

You may want to look at how TCP performance is calculated, just increasing the BW will not necessarily help.

TCP througput = Window Size in bits / round trip time in seconds

(assuming you have enough BW to send!!)

Please read the link below for more:

Re: T1 upgrade

Thank you for your response.

We will go ahead and read about this.

I hope that this link gives us at what level we have to check for this configuration ( router , servers or workstations).

Thank for your help. Hope this can help resolve the problem.
