TCP based syslog?

Hi,

I want to know whether CAT 6K (12.1 IOS) or any other Cisco IOS based routers support TCP based syslog. If so, which tcp port does it use by default?

FYI: PIX supports both TCP and UDP based syslog.

Please let me know.

Thanks in advance...

Shekar

Re: TCP based syslog?

As far as I know, the 514 udp port is used for syslog messaging.

Re: TCP based syslog?

Hi!!!:

I have found a solution....

If your working with Windows, you may search on internet a syslog server program. I Found a kiwi syslog server server . The deafult port is UDP 514. Also TCP 514 that is called cmd is used. On routers configuration you may include this line.

Router(config)> loggin (and the ip address of kiwi server) "ENTER".

Best regards......

Re: TCP based syslog?

How would you force a Cisco router to use TCP 514 instead of UDP for syslog messages?

Regards,

Milan
