Temperature gauge on a fan

We are running LMS 2.1 to monitor CAT 5500 switches. We started getting an error message on our DFM that the fan is not functioning normally on one of our CAT 5500. The CV on that switch shows the fan indicator light going blank and then turning green and then blank again, etc. The problem is we have a dual power supply ( and therefore 2 fans) on our switches and only one fan indicator. Does anyone know exactly what this indicator shows?

Thanks.

Re: Temperature gauge on a fan

This could be due to a hardware problem with the Fan in your switch.

If 'sh system' does show normal then the problem is with the application.

Re: Temperature gauge on a fan

Thanks for yur reply. After telnetting into the switch, I see a message saying "Fan failed" and then "Fan OK". The messages are alternating. Is it referring to the fan in the fan assembly?

Thanks.
