TFTP %Ambiguous Command

Trying to copy my config off of my router to a TFTP server. I am typing in the command as follows:

WTTKRTR08#COPY STARTUP-CONFIG TFTP

and get the following error

% Ambiguous command: "COPY STARTUP-CONFIG TFTP "

Here is my router type and info:

IOS (tm) EGR Software (C7100-IS-M), Version 12.0(7)XE1, EARLY DEPLOYMENT RELEASE

SOFTWARE (fc1)

I can do this fine on other IOS routers and switches. I am thinking I just need to upgrade my OS. Can someone confirm?

Re: TFTP %Ambiguous Command

Try "copy nvram:startup-config tftp"

Re: TFTP %Ambiguous Command

I retract my previous comment. I just realized you using a 7000 series.

In the "copy startup-config tftp" command startup-config is alias for nvram:startup-config. In most cases 7000 series doesn't store the startup-config in NVRAM.

Issue a "show bootvar". The CONFIG_FILE variable will tell you the location of your startup-config.

If it specifics flash: the command would be "copy flash:startup-config tftp".

HTH,

Ryan
