tftp-server differences in 12.1 and 12.3

I was trying to set up tftp server on a 2514 for IOS upgrade and found that on the same 2514 platform with 14MB RAM and 16MB flash. I ran into problems with IOS 12.3(5). Here are the observatios:

1) When 12.1(20) is running,

Router(config)#tftp-server ?

flash: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

flh: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

lex: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

null: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

nvram: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

system: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

2) when 12.3(5) is running,

Router-A(config)#tftp-server ?

null: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

nvram: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

system: Allow URL file TFTP load requests

Router and Router-A are the same exact model with same amount of RAM and flash.

3) on Router-A with c2500-i-l.123-5.bin, I tried "tftp-server system:\flash:c2500-is-l.123-5a.bin", which did not give me "file not found" error. But when I tried to connect to it from the target c2514 (in BootRom after changing to 0x2101), it always failed to load the image. I think it's because I couldn't do "tftp-server flash:\..."

Why does 12.1 have more tftp-server options than 12.3?

4) "show flash" works in 12.1 but not in 12.3. I could only "dir" to show the image in 12.3. "show file system" won't show the details. Is there an eqivilent of "show flash" in 12.3?

Thanks!

Equivalent of show flash is dir flash. And the TFTP command differs for IOS versions
