Time to live ended

Hello,

I have 2 router (1700-1700) connected with a leased line within 5 km.

When i send a ping packet, the remote router sends an icmp packet (time to live expired).

Whats the problem?

Thanks.

Re: Time to live ended

It could be that neither router has a routing table entry for the destination address you are pinging, and they each have a default route (or other short matching route) pointed to the other. This would cause a routing loop and a TTL expired message.

Check each router for the route to the address you are pinging.

Also, do a traceroute and see if there is a loop.
