Tool to measure network performance

We are about to migrate from fast ethernet backbone to Gigabit ethernet. I need a tool that measures network throughput. I need to create a baseline after which I'll measure it again to show bandwidth improvement. (To upper level management).

Just incase they claim they are not seeing an increase..... I want to show them what the tests say...

Any ideas?

Thanks

You can configure MRTG to see your bandwidth utilization.

don't know what this is but I find out...

many thanks

QCheck from NetIQ (www.netIQ.com) will do a point-to-point throughput, packet drop, and latency test. It's free.

It's the little brother to Chariot - an application level performance analyzer.

You may need some screen capture software as well, I don't remember if NetIQ will output to a printer or file (I don't think it does).

Good Luck

Scott
