trace problem

C:\Documents and Settings\lvwengang>tracert 10.2.255.28

Tracing route to 10.2.255.28 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.2.105.253

2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 10.2.255.28

3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 10.2.255.28

why the second command did not pass the default gateway?

Your L3 switch seems to be doing MLS and that's the reason why you don't see the default gateway in your trace. The switch probably has an entry in the MLS cache for your 2nd trace and hence, does not forward the packet up to the RP for switching packets.

Can you please elaborate on the type of network you have. Is the device you are trace routing from a separate host or has multiple nic cards with onboard routing or proxying? What is/should be the default gateway? Are their access-lists restricting traffic on the first hop router? Please just fill in the picture so that we can get a better understanding of the issue at hand....Thanks...

but if i ping the destination first,and then run the tracert command,the only hop must be the destination IP,but it wasn't,why?
