Under IOS can you specify which method of traceroute to use? On a couple flavors of unix you can type
traceroute <ip>
for udp traces, which is the drfault type of trace for most unicies, or
traceroute -I <ip>
for icmp based traces.
From what I've gathered this isn't possible w/ IOS. Any truth to this?

From the CCO docs, it was mentioned that the IOS traceroute command uses
UDP datagrams (default port address is 33434) for its probe messages.
You an verify this using the extended traceroute command in privileged exec.

Yes - doing packets sniffs showed that IOS does use udp. My question is can you tell IOS to used icmp based traces?
