Traffic Control

I have a 2610 router and want to control the traffic. For instance, someone using ftp is only allowed to use about 40% bandwidth. How can I do this?

Re: Traffic Control

ftp data transfer is tcp port 20. Use custome queuing to achieve your objective.

queue-list 1 protocol ip 1 tcp port 20 .........ftp data transfers assigned to q1

now depending upon your wan link, use the byte-count command to assign the desired bandwidth to ftp data transfer.

Re: Traffic Control

6 commands for configuring custom queuing.......

queue-list protocol

queue-list interface

queue-list default

queue-list queue limit

queue-list byte-count

custome-queue-list

I would request you to go through the following link which explains custome queueing concept and commands in more details.

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios121/121cgcr/qos_c/qcprt2/qcdcq.htm

I am sure this will give you the required knowledge for traffic management.

Re: Traffic Control

When running >= 12.0 (1) it's easy to configure a Committed Access Rate (CAR). You can identify the traffic with an ACL.
