traffic path for hsrp setup

how do u enforce the inbound and outbound (with respect to a vlan) traffic via the active leg.

cos when I perform a traceroute from external to the vlan(with hsrp configured), it always via the standby leg to reach the vlan. and the outbound traffic is going via the active leg (which is correct).

any tips on this?

You cannot control how inbound traffic comes into your network (vlan). It will only make sure that outbound traffic goes always through the active leg.

Not with HSRP functionality, no.

But why not make the standby router announce the vlan route with a higher metric (cost) in the IGP so the other routers in the network will prefer the route announced by the active router?
