On a cisco 3640 Router, I''m currently running IOS 12.0(7) and all is well.
I tried upgrading to 12.2 to take advantage of snmp support for vlan sub-interfaces on a FastEthernet port. After restarting the router, all interfaces come up except the serial interfaces(WAN). On issueing show int ser2/3 , I get Serial2/3 is up, line protocol is up. Yet, I cannot ping router on far end of the serial link. show cdp does not list that router. When I revert to IOS 12.0(7) all returns to normal. Why this behavior ? I have 36864K/12288K bytes of memory. I issued the command "memory-size iomem 10" as suggested by the memory calculator tool.
Both routers have keepalive set as follows: Keepalive set (10 sec)
I finally got the upgrade working by removing the transmit-interface command in ios version 12.2 but is required on ios version 12.0(7) as one serial port
is attached to a receive-only device.
Is this command implemented differently in IOS version 12.2 ?
