hello friends,

I have some query about transport layer..

As we all know that when data passes from session layer to transport layer, Transport layer fragments the data..and then it passes to network layer...

Now I want to know when data reaches at the destination, the transport layer of destination machine again get the fragments and join it and make the full data..but how can the transport layer come to know that this is the last fragment of the data...? When we are talking about the sequence no. lets say data is fragmented in to 10 small fragments at the sender transport layer..now how receiver transport layer come to know that fragment no 10 is the last one..????

With regards,

Nirav

Its simple

In IP packet you have field Flag

check this

http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/protocol/ip.htm

Field flag has another filed called MF (more fragments) if MF=1 than more fragments follow this fragment if MF=O than this is the last fragment.

M.

Hope that helps rate if it does
