Troubleshooting Cisco 1900 Switch

Does anyone know what 'Input error' on Ethernet interface between router and switch mean?

Re: Troubleshooting Cisco 1900 Switch

Hi

In the firstshot would suggest to check the following.

1.Cable connected between the router and the switch .

Try to replace and check

2. Speed or Duplex mismatch

Mite be auto on either in switch or router, try to hardcode the same and check.

These are the few possible reasons for the input error counter to keep on increasing.

1900's have no autonegotiation feature on the ports so you must hardcode the router side to match the 1900 side whether the is 10/half or configured 10/full.

Re: Troubleshooting Cisco 1900 Switch

on the C1900, the Port Configuration is set to Full Duplex Enabled and on the C3620, the F0/0 Interface configuration is set to 'Duplex Auto Speed Auto'. is this okay?

Re: Troubleshooting Cisco 1900 Switch

No its not you would have to hardcode the port speed and duplex on the 3620 otherwise you will have a mismatch and poor performance , if one side is auto then the other side must be auto seeing that the 1900 does not support auto then you must hardcode the port.
