trunk negotiation

This may be a stupid question, but! Why do we have all the diffrent options for trunk negotiation i.e. disirable, nonnegotiate etc. Why not just have on|off ?

Hi,

I think the reason is maximum flexibility and compatibility between CatOS, IOS, product lines, other vendor devices.
