Trunking and LACP performance

Are there thresholds set when configuring a trunk?

i.e..If I set up a 4 port 10/100 trunk on ports 0-3,

the traffic always stays on port 0. Does it ever do any sort of load balancing. How about LACP?

Can I pull down docs that explain this?

Re: Trunking and LACP performance

The algorithm used to split the traffic depends on the switches/routers in use. Some switches can only load balance based on source/destination MAC addresses, others can use source/destination IP addresses or Layer-4 port numbers. If you only have two devices talking then they will always take the same path - EtherChannel doesn't split packets up, it just spreads multiple conversations over the available paths.

Check on CCO for EtherChannel support for your particular switches.
