trunking on ac c2924xl

We are implementing VLAN in an ethernet topology.

Most switches are Cat 3524xl/48xl but I've some old catalyst c2924xl w/4Mb upgraded to original edition software Release 11.2(8.10)SA6 . According to Release Notes for Release 11.2(8.10)SA6 it is suposed to support trunking 802.1q, but when i tried to configure it:

switchport trunk encap dot1q

switchport mode trunk

it was imposible. Does any of you configured 802.1q trunks on a cat c2924xl?

I have configured this before and used the same commands as you, for example:

interface FastEthernet0/2

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

What switch are you connecting the trunk to and what is the configuration of this port?

The configuration notes for trunking mention that only a limited set of interface modules support trunking on 4meg 2900XL series switches. It seems likely that the interface you're trying to configure the trunk on simply does not support it.

thanks, but althought original edition 11.2(8)SA6 supports VTP and trunking it can´t work on cat 2900xl switches with 4096KB.

I have managed to do exactly that, but had to upgrade my image on the C2924XL to "c2900XL-c3h2s-mz.120-5.WC2.bin".
