Hi all,
I have a 6509 switch which I use and I wanted to expand more ports off that 6509. I can use a hub and do an uplink from it but I have a spare 5502 cat on hand so I want to use it to expand more ports.
How would you configure the 6509 and 5502 switch? trunking or uplink?
I have more than one vlans on the 6509.
Thanks,
Steve

If you want more than one vlan per physical cable, you will have to using trunking. Command is "set trunk x/x .... ". See link on how to trunk: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/27.html . If you wanted to waste ports you could use one cable per vlan.
Hope it helps.

Thanks.
Do I use a cross over cable to connect from switch 1 trunk port to switch 2 trunk port?

Yes, switch to switch cables are cross over.
