Trunking

I have several 400x catalysts switches w/2900 switches connected. Is there any reason to configure these connections as trunks, other than CPU utilization?

trunk?

4003 -------------2924

Note: Everything seems fine without a trunk definition, today. Oh and the users on both switches belong to the same VLAN.

Re: Trunking

Trunks are configured to carry multiple VLANs over a single Link. From your description, it appears that you have only one VLAN in your network and hence there is no need for any trunks. There is no other benefits you'll get by configuring a trunk

Re: Trunking

Not unless you plan on running multiple vlans down the same connection to the 2924 . To me it seems like all our single attached , nontrunked connections are slightly faster but that is just an observation in our operating environment .
