Tunneling CDP!

Hi!

I need to create a tunnel for the CDP protocol, because our service provider does not let cdp thru their network, Ive been looking fro this but haven´t been able to find anything!

Tha scene are:

Cisco 3640 version c3640-is-mz.122-5.bin Fast eth in one end!

The other end:

Cat 4006 IOS layer 3 switch version:cat4000-is-mz.121-8a.EW1.bin.

If someone can help I would be very happy.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Tunneling CDP!

CDP sends packets on LANs using the multicast address 0100.0CCC.CCCC. CDP also runs over the data link layer only, not the network layer (It consists of a header, followed by a set of variable-length fields consisting of type/length/value triplets), so you would have to create a GRE tunnel and bridge between them (if possible).

Hope that helps.

Steve
