hey folks...

my client has a requirement to tunnel CLNS traffic over and IP backbone..i was planning to use GRE tunnels to perform this but noticed another encapsulation option...'eon' a standard for carrying CLNP over IP networks.Further investigation yielded rfc1070 'Use of the Internet as a Subnetwork for Experimentation with the OSI Network Layer'

however I can't find much that actually explains the encapsulation.Anyone ever come across this ?

any advice things to look out for ?

any help greatly apppreciated.

regards

joe

Yup, EON is short for "Experimental OSI-based Network". If you like to understand it, the best place would be to read the RFC 1070 (http://rfc.sunsite.dk/rfc/rfc1070.html). You could also refer to 'Configuring Logical Interfaces' (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1831/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080088082.html#1012616)
