can i have two area border routers for the same area( ex. area 1), and if i can have so..must they be physically connected by a link that resides in area 1.??
how will another area border router in (area zero) will route traffic destined to networks in area 1 ???
will he choose a single ABR or will he load balance the traffic accross them..??

Hi,
Of course you can, and in fact, you had better to do so for redundancy. The route that router choose will base on the cost.
Hope this help

They do not have to be physically connected, you can connect them with a tunnel interface.

Normally, the two ABRs in area-1 should be able to ping each other without traversing the backbone. If not, then your area-1 has been partitioned__nothing to worry about if all hosts are still hung to at least one functioning ABR.
If the two ABRs advertise the same network with equal cost, the backbone will do the load-balancing.
Thanks.
