Two IOS in one flash

I have 3745 router.

It has default IOS version in that, I want to store one more IOS version in same flash.

How to configure Config-Register for this purpose?

Hello,

config-register should be set to 0x2102 (this is actually the default). Provided you have enough flash memory to hold both IOS, define which one you want the router to load at startup with the boot system flash filename (where filename is the name of the IOS version you want to load) command.

Regards,

Georg

Re: Two IOS in one flash

You dont need to do anything with the config-register.

Use a method such as tftp, ftp or rcp to copy the file into flash.

Once the files are in flash, give a show flash command to verify the files.

If you want to verify checksum of these files, you may do so using verify device: command.

Use multiple boot system commands to make the router boot from either files.

boot system flash flash:

boot system flash flash:

By default router will boot from image filename1. If it gets corrupted or is erased in future, it will automatically switch over to filename2.
