Two Leased lines in single router

Hi ,

I have 2 leased lines terminating to cisco 2620 router (s0/0, s0/1). the first line is connected to ISP1 and another one is connected to ISP2. The default route is pointing to ISP1 i.e s0/0. I configured static routes for some specific hosts which points ISP2 as gateway for example,

ip route 216.115.109.7 255.255.255.255 s0/1

How can I do a redundant route if the second line goes down?. I given another route pointing through s0/0 with administrative distance 110 ( ip route 216.115.109.7 255.255.255.255 s0/0 110).

But its not working. Can any one help me to work around this..?

Thanks in Advance

Ganesh

Re: Two Leased lines in single router

all the host should point to eth int of the router. give 2 static default routes pointing to serial interfaces one w/ less preference having a higher metric; ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 s0/0 and ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 s0/1 20. Once the serial interface of the prefered ISP (s0/0 in this case) goes down, router will start forwarding packets to alternative one... you can check this by sh ip ro since the default route w/ lower metric (1 in this case) will be active till the s0/0 is down.
