Two network cards, one host.

I want to configure a Server with two network cards.

One for streaming a video file to the network and one for administrative purposes (administering a web page on the same machine).

Can I configure the two network cards to be on the same subnet ? (I heard it can cause problems and interfere with the video stream, If I use two network cards on one host, with the same subnet)

If not, why ?

Thanks

Configuring two nics from one host on the same subnet is not a problem. What may be more at issue in ease or difficulty of this configuration is the OS you are using. Your satisfaction my also be affected by the type of nic (quad pci on a Sun, dual Intel on an Intel box or two different nics on their own bus, etc.). You may also want to consider teaming, bonding or trunking dependent on your hardware and drivers as an alternative.
