HI Expets!
i have read that ITs Very important to use UDLD IN the fiber infrastructure.we have a big enterprise all is fiber link.but we didn't use this technology.but every thing fine.i'd like to know what is the advantage & disadvantage to use udld or not to use it.

Hi Ali,
UDLD is used for unidirectional link detection. Sometime in fibers we have that problem that either RX or TX end stops working which led to the STP loop in the network. That's why we use UDLD feature to put the port in error disable state if it happens.
I would recommend to turn it on for fiber ports.

You can have the same trouble if you have a 802.1Q trunk and you don't allow same VLANs on both ends of the trunk.
So this problem is not limited to fibers.
