What settings do you have on your hyperterminal?

Are you able to connect to any other Cisco device using the same PC/cable?

Re: Unable to access Cat 3548 through Console port.

You did set the connection to 9600-8N1?

Are you using the original console cable that came with the device?

Keep in mind that this is not a straight cable. You can extend it with a straight one. Using a second console cable will not work.

Normally the console should always work using the supplied cable.

This may not be true after you accidentally inserted an ISDN port (?!) carrying the 100Volts signal to it. Not likely but you never know.
