Unable to ping the gateway from a 2948G


This is my first time configuring a Catalyst 2948G and I could use some help. I can ping the internal IP address assigned to the SC0 interface, but I cannot ping the gateway ( Any help would be very appreciated. I have included portions of my configuration and I hope this is enough information.


set interface sc0 1

set interface sc0 up

set interface sl0

set interface me1

set interface me1 down

set arp agingtime 360

set ip redirect enable

set ip unreachable enable

set ip fragmentation enable

set ip route 1

set ip alias default


set vtp domain abc-efg

set vtp mode client

clear vtp pruneeligible 2-1005


#uplinkfast groups

set spantree uplinkfast disable


set spantree backbonefast disable

I noticed that you have the command:

set ip route 1

In this case, the switch directs traffic destined only for network to the gateway IP.

Instead try,

Switch(enable)set ip route x.x.x.x

where, x.x.x.x is your gateway IP.

To verify perform,

Switch(enable)show ip route

the gateway IP should be listed as default gateway.
