Unable to ping the gateway from a 2948G

Hi...

This is my first time configuring a Catalyst 2948G and I could use some help. I can ping the internal IP address assigned to the SC0 interface, but I cannot ping the gateway (10.121.56.1). Any help would be very appreciated. I have included portions of my configuration and I hope this is enough information.

Re: Unable to ping the gateway from a 2948G

Stephen,

I noticed that you have the command:

set ip route 0.0.0.0 10.121.56.1 1

In this case, the switch directs traffic destined only for network 0.0.0.0 to the gateway IP.

Instead try,

Switch(enable)set ip route 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 x.x.x.x

where, x.x.x.x is your gateway IP.

To verify perform,

Switch(enable)show ip route

the gateway IP should be listed as default gateway.

Hope this helps,

Rajesh
