Upgrade from CatOS v5.3(3)CSX to IOS

I have a Catalyst 6509 with Supervisor Engine WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE with MSFC 1. The memory DRAM is 64Mbps, Flash 16Mbps and NVRAM has 512K.

I want to upgrade from CatOs to IOS.

What IOS version Can I use?

Will It have Problems whit this Job?

Where is the procedure to do it?

If 12.1(8b)E15 has all the features you need, it should be a good code. Check the release notes/bug tool kit for known issues before you upgrade

I forgot that I have two MFSC1 (slot 15 an 16). The procedure indicated before only consider one MFSC1. What Do i do?

You will need to do it twice(once for each Sup)

I understand. If I have two Supervisors I do it as procedure indicates, twice.

If I have two MFSC1, the same way. I do it twice.

I have a doubt. Where is installed the MFSCs? Each one into SUP?

The MSFCs are daughtercards on the Supervisor engine. You can use session 15 or session 16 to get to them.

I already have upgradeted my Supervisor 1. It is missing to upgrade the other SP. I have two questions about it:

1.After to upgrade the first SP, the running configuration shows these 3 commans lines:

boot system flash slot0:c6sup11-dsv-mz.121-8b.E15

boot system sup-bootflash:c6sup11-dsv-mz.121-8b.E15

boot bootldr bootflash:c6msfc-boot-mz.121-8b.E15

This is correct? or only must be show some them?

2. When I insert to slot2 the second SP Upgradeted, the syncronizing between SP1 and SP2 is automatcally?

Make sure that only one sup is installed in the chassis while doing the conversion. Otherwise, you may have unexpected results.

This should help. Read "Converting from Catalyst Software" from pages 190-192. I had great sucess followed this instruction. Remember one sup at a time. If you have dual sups, pull one from the chasis. Once you converted the first sup, power off and pull it. Reinsert the other sup and follow the same procedure.
