I'm looking for a migration path for the introduction of IPv6 in a network consisting of L2 switches C2950-series and L3 switches C3550-24-EMI acting as routing nodes.
Is such an upgrade possible ?
Can C2950 support IPv6 address as administrative address ?
Can C3550-24-EMI software be upgraded to support IPv6 (routing protocol currently used OSPF, migration to IS-IS considered) ?
If equipment must be replaced, what switch types could you suggest ?
Equipment numbers are : about 50 C2950, about 10 C3550-24-EMI
Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
Paul De Valck

I hope 3550 at present not supports IPv6. May be in future software versions, it will be implemented.Alternatively, you can see in catalyst 4500 series switches having Access Gateway Module (AGM) WS-X4604-GWY running 12.2.13T or later(supervisor need to be running 12.1(13)EW or later) having support for IPv6. I think 2950 supports only IPv4 address as administrative address.
