Upgrading 6509 to Native IOS - Booting Problem

Hello - I probably have missed a simple step here...

We have the following 6509 hardware:

WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE

WS-F6K-MSFC2

New IOS: c6sup12-jsv-mz.121-11b.EX1

I am using the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/81.shtml

I execute STEP 17 (for MSFC2):

boot sup-slot0:c6sup12-jsv-mz.121-11b.EX1

The c6sup12 binary uncompresses.

System power on diagnotics completes.

Then, I see "boot image: bootflash:cat6000-supk9.7-2-2.bin"

and the original cat6000 image loads. The

native image does not load.

I have gone through the steps several times without any luck :(

What am I missing here?

Scott

Hi,

can you paste the output of the set and dir bootflash: and dir slot0: and capture of everything while you are trying to boot up from the native IOS.

It seems like you are on the SP sides of the switch and the RP side still trying to boot up

Did you set the config reg on the Supervisor to 0x0 to stop it booting the CatOS image:

set boot config-register 0x0

(see step 11)

Here it is:

cat7 (enable) show modul

Let me know if you need more info!

Scott

Seems you are still on the Sp side and the image on the slot0 are corrupted.

in step 17

rommon 1 > boot slot0:c6sup12-jsv-mz.121-11b.EX1

loadprog: error - on read during ELF program load

requested 15943856 (0xf348b0) bytes, got 12089228 (0xb8778c)

It didn't boot up from the bootimage from slot0. delete the image and copy it again to the pcmcia.

That was it!

Thank you.

Check the " set boot " command parameters.

Example:

set boot system flash bootflash: your-new-image.bin
