User Tracking - hostname not resolved

Hi,

I am using Campus Manager 3.3. After I did user tracking, the HostName column displays only IP address. It does not display the DNS hostname. I can perform nslookup on the IP adress to obtain the hostname on the CLI.

Does anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks in advance!

What type of clients?

Please make sure you have the DNS checkboxes selected

under User and Host Acquistions.

Please make sure the nslookup is done on the CiscoWorks Server and its forward/reverse lookups match.

So you are pointing to the right DNS Server.

Hope that helps

MS Windows clients.

Under User and Host Acquisgtions, there is no DNS checkboxes.

nslookup (forward/reverse) works okay.

Any clues?

The DNS setting is located Setup > ANI Server Admin>Discovery Settings.

you may want to delete the ut db and ani db and start a fresh discovery.

have a look at document 7948 - troubslhooting ani and user tracking

http://cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps563/products_tech_note09186a0080094949.shtml

I found the DNS checkbox.

Thanks for your help.
