usernames etc for isdn

Hi there , when putting in usernames and passwords for ppp isdn, do I just use the username and password command under global config ? whereas for dsl etc you use the ppp hostname command, Am I correct ?

hello carl,

under local chap authentication, when you put a username/password command in global config, the routers takes their own hostnames for negotiating. you can force hostname by using the ppp hostname command on the interfaces. it actually depends on the way ISPs are configuring their access-servers. both in DSL or in ISDN, PPP authentication works the same way.
