Using a 2511 as a reverse telnet device

I have several 2511's that I would like to use to telnet to console ports on devices for remote managment. Most of the end devices are Cisco. I can easily talk to the Aux ports on any of the Cisco routers, but I cannot get the console ports to talk. This is not a problem for the devices that actually have both, but I do have a few (firewalls, Local directors, etc.) that only have a console port. Any suggestions?

TIA

Jerry

There are some good sample configs around on CCO.

I've lost the link but start in the 'Configuration Cookbook' sections and look for terminal server configs.

One think to check on is flow control and 'exec' settings as we have seen cases where the inputs were 'floating' causing great consumption of CPU on end devices ie. Cat6509's

I've setup several 2511 to access the console ports on 6500 and 3500 switches. Works great if there are network problems (as long as you have a seperate network for the console access). Email me directly at spiro@cc.mcgill.ca and I can send you a copy of my template.
