I want to set up a lab enviroment. I have a spare 2500 router and a 1601. Using the 60 Pin DTE/DCE, can I connect them via the serial interfaces? Do both have to have the same IOS?
Yes, they can be connected back to back. One interface as DTE (default) and the other one as DCE (use clockrate command within the interface), most of the time it is recommended to run the same IOS release
