UTLITE and CiscoWorks

Does anybody know the process with UTLite and user registration to CiscoWorks? The client runs in a login script and the server must be ser to enable user polling, but how does the communication process occur? Does the server have an open port that accepts registration from the utlite.exe at the user's login or is there a switch/router registration step in the middle? Also, are there any security concerns in running it?

Re: UTLITE and CiscoWorks

utlite.exe needs to be copied once to the PC's (this can be done by changing the NT login script) Secondly the utlite should be executed (utlitent.bat e.g.) which will sent a udp echo to port 16236 every 5 minutes to the CiscoWorks server every 5 minutes. To enable this port on the CiscoWorks you need to setup ANI Server Configuration -> Setup -> ANI Server Admin -> User and Host acquisition -> Username collection

The result will collect the username and NT domain and will appear in the usertracking column username -> user@cisco e.g
