v.92 upgrade on 3640, 5300, and 5350 routers

I'm about to undertake a mass upgrade to support V.92.

We use livingston radius.

Questions -

Should we offer this as a separate dialup number for our customers?

We spent months getting a IOS/Firmware solution on the 3600 chassis that kept the modems from going bad. If I upgrade to 12.2 and the V.92 firmware what will happen to stability?

I'm not worried about the 5300, but the 5350 w/ nextport modems in it...is this supported at the V.92 firmware level? What advise can you give me about upgrading the 5350?

Re: v.92 upgrade on 3640, 5300, and 5350 routers

1. Separate number. That depends on

whether or not you want to charge different

for the service. If you do, a separate

number would be required along with

local resource-pooling to enforce the speed

connections.

2. The modem upgrade for V.92 is not

that big of a deal; the changes were not

significant. The IOS upgrade could pose

problems (as would any upgrade, there

is always a level of uncertainty). Here

are the recommended versions for V.92

support:

3600 - V.92 is not yet available

5300 - 12.2(2)XA3, 2.9.1.0

5350 - 12.2(2)XA3, 0.6.103.11 (you

should get this from the TAC).
