Valid subnetworks?

I've been given a network of 62.6.158.192. I have to divide it into subnets. I am embarrassed and not sure if I've done it right. Are the below networks valid?

Ext Apps network 62.6.158.192/27

Mask 255.255.255.224

Interface 62.6.158.222

Ext Network 62.6.158.240/28

Mask 255.255.255.240

Interface 62.6.158.254

Re: Valid subnetworks?

yes Christopher u r right u have divided ur net into 3 subnet with

62.x.y.192 / 27 <-- u can use 30 ip pool

62.x.y.224 / 28 <-- u can use 16 ip pool

62.x.y.240 / 28 <-- u can use 16 ip pool

note : from /28 u can either use any one for ur smaller network

Re: Valid subnetworks?

Hi,

The subnets you have come up with are certainly valid.

There is also another subnet between these two that you did not post: 62.6.158.224/255.255.255.240

Pls do remember to rate posts.

Re: Valid subnetworks?

Dear Christopher

u did not tell us how many subnet do u want and how many ips are required in each subnet.

with ur above division its look as u need two subnet, U hav done OK here, but u have not used ur 16 ips (from 62.6.158.225 to 239)

so u can go like this to fully utilize ur ip pool.

Ext Apps network 62.6.158.192/27

Mask 255.255.255.224

Interface 62.6.158.222

Ext Network 62.6.158.224/27 <- see the cnanges

Mask 255.255.255.224 <- see the cnanges

Interface 62.6.158.254

Plz rate if this help.

Thanks

Re: Valid subnetworks?

Thanks. I only need two subnets, but didn't want to waste too many on the external network where I only need a few addresses. I can use the additional 16 for future expansion. I just wanted to know if my thinking was right. The largest block size I can use is 30, correct?
