Im looking for the major diffrences between using a 7505 over a 7606. Is there any good comparisons between them?

What sort of links/interfaces do you need to support ?

The 7606 is more of an optical services router, it handles OC-3, 12 and 48, along with various flavors of ethernet.

the 7505 would service a low speed (t-1, t-3) environment better.

Mostly OC12 and Gig Ethernet

Is there any docs that show a side by side

the reason is my customer has a 7505 w/ a couple of OC12 links and a couple of GIG links. Ever since adding the gig ports the cpu utilization has been around 80%. Im trying to put together something to show the 7606 with the sup 720 will be much better especially becuase they are planning to add more gig links.

I don't know of a direct compare except the product data sheets. The GIG/e ports on the 75 do not run at wire speed. You have just about hit the cpu limit right now.

What I would do is:

1. get the data sheet on the processor for the 05

2 do the same for the 720.

that should get you comparable data.

do the same for the interface modules.
