We have a NEC NEAXmail AD-40 voicemail server running OS/2. We have a Windows App called Viewmail that allows us to retreive our voicemail on our desktop. It appears to be using TCP/IP, you configure the client to use ip of 172.16.5.100, which is ip of voicemail server. I did some packet sniffing and it does indeed transfer data on tcp/ip on port 1024.
The problem we have is that we can only access this host on the same subnet/segment of the network. We can't even ping it from another subnet (goes through router) or through VPN, yet we can ping every other host on the .5 subnet.
The reason we got from our PBX support people is that it is using Novell (IPX) , but I should be able to atleast ping it from another location.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
