Virtual Exec?

When you do a "show processer cpu", you get a break down of all the interupts, such as IP Input and then a percentage as to how much CPU is being assigned to that process. Well does anybody know exactly what the "virtual exec" process is?

Evertime I issue a show run the virtual exec percentage shoots up to 30%+.??

Also, it is saying that I have 2 tty open, but I only have one.

Any help would be great

Daniel,

Re: Virtual Exec?

The 'virtual exec' process is described as 'Handles virtual type terminal (vty) lines (for example, Telnet sessions on the router).' For more information on CPU processes go to:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/showproc_cpu.html#processes

I would guess that when you issue the 'show processes cpu' command you are telneted onto the router. Therefore, your telnet is consuming a lot of the CPU's processing resources.

Hope this helps.
