VISM VS CESM

Hi,

Do you really need the VISM cards tu run voice over ATM. Can`t you just do it with a normal CESM? I am not a Voice expert but i just don`t see the advantage that the VISM board gives you for the price trade off. Can anyone guide me on this ?

Regards

Alex

Re: VISM VS CESM

Alex,

If you are looking at just transporting voice across an ATM network without using any compression, then you could probably get away with a Circuit emulation solution. You will be just connecting say the T1's from your PBX's across the ATM network. You will not be able to take advantage of additional features like compression, subcell muxing etc that the VISM provides.

One of the more widely used applications of the VISM is in call control where you can use it in conjunction with a Call agent to perform Call control applications.
