VLAN ACL's and MS File Sharing

Hi,

We have an issue where there is slowness between vlans when mapping drives in MS. Has anyone experienced this? We are allowing the correct ports (135-139 tcp and udp) but when we allow any any tcp or udp on the server vlan (the return traffic) it speeds up.

Thanks in advance..

Re: VLAN ACL's and MS File Sharing

A couple of things to check..

- UDP ports are usually port-number to same-port-number ie. permit udp any port eq 137 any eq 137

- win2000 & xp also use tcp port 445. Depending on the set up, they usually attempt to use port 445 and if it fails attempt to use tcp port 139.
