VLAN and Broadcasts

If I create two VLANs on a switch, will broadcats be passed from one VLAN to another? Specifically, will DHCP somehow be able to assign an address if the DHCP server is in VLAN1 and the client is in VLAN2.

Broadcasts do not traverse VLAN boundaries by default. You can use ip-helper addresses on layer 3 interfaces corresponding to the VLANs to enable DHCP forwarding. The following page should help as well
