vlan config

This is a general concept i want to understand. If i configre vlan 1 on 3524 with ip 10.10.10.1/8 and another 3524 with 10.10.10.2/8 on vlan 1.and conncet the switches through crosscable, sure im able to ping. Now if i leave the 1 switch with the same config and change config on the 2nd 3524 with vlan 2 as management vlan and use the same ip 10.10.10.2/8

Im not able to ping even in the same class.Does it means vlan tags something to ????something??? Thanks.

Re: vlan config

If the connection is a trunk, you're correct. You won't be able to ping.

If the connection port on sw1 is set to vlan1 and the port on sw2 is set to vlan2, you should be able to ping no problem.

Frames are only tagged on trunking ports.
