Vlan database

After Migrating from CATOS to IOS the VLAN configuration commands are not present in the IOS although the Vlans are there. How do i make the vlan commands visible in the IOS configuration?

Re: Vlan database

What VLAN configuration commands are you after ?

Are you talking about the VLAN number and VLAN name ?

Those are hidden when the switch is running on VTP server or client mode. If you want to see them, you need to switch to VTP transparent mode.

However, going with VTP transparent will force you to configure the VLANs manually on each switch.

Re: Vlan database

to setup vlans with IOS you must use the VLAN database as follows:

switch# vlan database

switch(vlan)# vlan 10

switch(vlan)# exit

this will create a vlan 10 in the IOS VLAN database.

you must create the vlan in the database for the switch to know/use it.

if you want interVLAN routing, you will also need to create a VLAN Interface on the L3 switch.

see this link for more info: (not sure what switch type you have so i provided 6500 IOS link)
